How Citizz works
Citizz is a local services marketplace in India. We help people who need a service find providers nearby, and we help honest businesses get discovered. We connect — we do not employ providers or carry out the work ourselves. Legal detail is in Terms (v1.1) and Privacy (v1.1).
Who uses the app?
There are three main ways people use Citizz:
1. Customer
Anyone looking for a local service — plumbing, tuition, salon, clinic visit, home repair, and similar categories in your area. Customers register in the app as a customer (not as a business). They browse listings, read reviews, send messages, and place bookings when a business offers them.
2. Business
Shops, freelancers, clinics, agencies, and other providers who register as a business and publish what they offer under their own name and brand. Citizz connects you with nearby customers; you run the work and agree payment with the customer — Citizz does not employ you or take commission on the job. During signup you choose one of three business categories (see below). The business owner manages the listing, services, photos, and customer conversations. More for providers: For businesses.
3. Team member (worker login)
Some businesses add staff accounts so assigned workers can see their jobs, accept visits, and update status in the app. These accounts are created through the business — they are not a separate public signup path like customer or business registration. If your employer gave you worker login details, use the worker sign-in option in the app.
The three business categories
When you register a business, you pick the size that best matches how you operate:
| Category | Who it is for | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Individual / Freelancer | One person delivering the service, often under their own name. | Hair stylist, plumber, tutor, electrician working solo. |
| Small business / Shop | A local shop or team with a few people and a fixed or mobile presence. | Chemist, restaurant, small clinic, repair shop. |
| Company / Organisation | A larger organisation that may list more services and coordinate a bigger team. | Hospital group, construction company, multi-branch service brand. |
The category affects how many services and team members you can manage comfortably in the app. Pick the honest fit — do not register as an individual if you are a multi-staff company.

How a customer journey works
- Install Citizz from the official app store and create a customer account with email and phone.
- Optionally allow location so the app can show services near you. You can still browse without it, but nearby results work better with permission.
- Search or browse categories, open a business profile, and compare services, photos, and reviews.
- Contact the business through in-app chat or call when they have enabled those options.
- Book a slot when the business offers booking for that service. If the job is at your home, you may enter your address for that booking so the provider can visit — it is shared only for that job, not sold to marketers.
- The business (or their assigned worker) performs the work off-platform. Payment for the actual job is between you and the provider unless you used a specific Citizz payment product shown at checkout.
- Leave a review afterward to help others in your community.
Businesses: You must respond to bookings and operate actively on Citizz — not register and abandon. See Business platform standards (Terms §3.4, v1.1).
How a business journey works
- Install the app and start business registration (separate from customer signup).
- Choose your business category (individual, small business, or company).
- Complete your profile: business name, categories you serve, how you work (shop, mobile visits, home-based, or online), photos, and contact details.
- Add services with clear descriptions, pricing style (fixed, range, or quote), and availability where booking applies.
- Appear in customer search for your area when your listing is active and relevant.
- Respond to messages and bookings promptly; assign jobs to team members if you use staff accounts.
- Optionally buy eligible platform features in the Citizz app (such as extra visibility or messaging capacity), including through Google Play where offered for your account.
- Some organisations may later receive a separate, invite-only business account portal for specific account services — only if onboarding provides it. That portal is not linked from the consumer app.
Location and visits — what to expect
- Discovery — Customer location (if allowed) helps show who is nearby. Business listings show the area or type of service (shop, mobile, online).
- Bookings at the customer's place — For plumbers, cleaners, and similar visits, the customer shares an address for that appointment. The assigned business or worker uses it only to complete the job.
- Safety — Citizz does not supervise visits and is not responsible for misconduct or crime between users on site. See Trust & safety.
What Citizz does not do
- We do not employ businesses or customers.
- We do not guarantee job quality, price of the physical work, or on-time arrival.
- We are not a party to private payment for the job unless a Citizz checkout product clearly says so.
- We are not responsible for illegal content users post — but we can remove it and suspend accounts quickly.
