Before you book — safety & money
Citizz helps you find, message, and book local service businesses. It does not employ providers, guarantee work quality, or handle payment for the physical job unless a Citizz checkout screen clearly says so. Read this before your first booking. Legal detail is in Terms (v1.1) and Privacy (v1.1).
Quick summary: Use Citizz in-app chat and call to reach a business — do not share your personal mobile number, WhatsApp, or home address outside the app unless Citizz clearly asks for a service address for a visit. Contact details needed for a booking are shared with the business through Citizz until the job ends. Never share OTPs or passwords. Pay the business for the service after the work — not through Citizz unless the app shows a specific Citizz payment product for that job.
Contact and calls — stay on Citizz
Citizz connects customers and businesses through secure in-app messaging and, where enabled, voice calling through our servers (including masked phone options). That is the safest way to coordinate a booking.
- Do not share your personal mobile number in chat, on WhatsApp, SMS, or a personal call when Citizz already lets you message or call through the app.
- Do not share your full home address outside the booking flow. If a visit is needed, enter the service address in Citizz for that job only — not in a side message unless the app asks you to.
- If a business asks you to move to WhatsApp or a personal number, you may refuse and use Citizz instead. Report pressure or harassment via Grievance.
- Sharing phone numbers, addresses, or other sensitive details outside Citizz can expose you to spam, misuse, or privacy breaches — and is harder for us to help with if something goes wrong.
Legal detail: Terms §3.5 and Privacy policy §6.1.
What Citizz shares for an active booking
When you place a booking, information needed to complete that job may be visible to the business and anyone they assign to the visit (team member / jobber), including:
- Name and phone you enter for that booking
- Service address (and map coordinates if you share location for a home visit) when the service requires it
- Date, time, service, and booking status in the app
This information stays available for that booking while it is pending, confirmed, or in progress. It is meant for completing the job — not for unrelated marketing. After the booking is completed, cancelled, or rejected, providers should stop using it for new contact unless you agree otherwise outside Citizz.
See Privacy policy (location and address) and Booking journey diagrams for the full flow.
What you should never share
Do not send these to a business, jobber, or anyone in chat — even if they say they are from Citizz:
- Your personal mobile number, WhatsApp, or email when Citizz already provides chat or call for that booking
- Your full home address outside the Citizz booking flow (use the service-address field when a visit is required)
- OTP codes, passwords, or PINs (bank, UPI, email, or app login)
- Full debit/credit card numbers or CVV
- Government ID numbers (Aadhaar, PAN, passport) unless a lawful service truly requires it and you choose to share
- Links or apps that ask you to “verify payment” outside your normal bank/UPI app
Real Citizz support will not ask for your password or OTP. Report pressure to pay in unsafe ways via Grievance or contact@karmavyuha.com.
Paying for the actual service (the job)
- Citizz does not process payment for the physical service (plumber visit, cleaning, salon job, etc.) unless the app clearly shows a Citizz checkout product for that specific job.
- Use Citizz in-app chat or call to confirm time, scope, or price before a visit. The business should not need your personal number for that.
- Pay the business after the work is done (or as you both agree) — cash, UPI, bank transfer, or their usual method. Money goes to the business, not to Citizz, for that service.
- Jobbers (team members) work for the business. Unless your business told you otherwise, pay the business, not the individual at the door, unless that is how the business instructed you.
Payments inside Citizz (visibility packs, messaging, Google Play products) are different — see Payments & refunds.
Quality, timing, and disputes about the work
- Citizz does not guarantee workmanship, arrival time, or that a price quote will stay unchanged on site.
- Disputes about the service itself (quality, refunds for the job, no-show) are between you and the business, subject to law.
- We can help with platform issues (abuse, fake listings, account problems) through support and Grievance — not as a substitute for resolving the job contract between you and the provider.
On-site safety
Home visits and shop visits carry real-world risk. Citizz does not supervise jobs or vouch for any person. For first visits, consider daytime appointments and telling someone where you are. Emergencies: contact local emergency services first. More tips: Trust & safety.
Businesses and team members
If you are a provider:
- Use customer name, phone, and address only for the booking they gave you.
- Do not ask customers for OTPs, passwords, or full card numbers.
- Collect service payment through your own agreed channels after the job — Citizz is not the escrow for local jobs.
